Business Development Manager – Service & Hire

WES Ltd is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bespoke and standard chemical dosing systems and associated support services. The customer base is spread across industry sectors, including Water (largest proportion), Industrial, Nuclear Power, Defence, Marine and Manufacturing.

The growth plans for the business have identified the need to recruit a Business Development Manager for our service/maintenance and equipment hire activities.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate experience of a business development or sales role in M&E service/maintenance and/or equipment hire activities in the UK Utilities industry.

Job Description

  • Develop the Service and Hire business – Identify new service and hire opportunities and secure new sales leads from existing sectors and clients and develop additional business from new sectors and clients.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with the purchasing and operations teams within existing, or identified potential key accounts.
  • Enquiry Handling – Lead the approach and response to water company framework service & maintenance enquiries.
  • Order Winning – Follow bids through to order, in line with agreed sales margin targets. Lead the approach on framework negotiations to secure acceptable terms.
  • Plan and implement a structured visit programme to promote and position WES Service & Hire products and services within all UK water utilities.
  • Actively develop relationships at the required level(s) within all UK water utilities to grow the WES business. Track and record organisational changes and business direction within those key accounts.
  • Ensure WES is registered and prequalified as a Services partner to UK water utilities and position WES to receive opportunities to bid for any future relevant framework agreements.
  • Beyond the water utilities, identify potential new industries and customers requiring chemical dosing solutions. Identify and manage new accounts and relationships that will deliver orders.

The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:

  • Degree (or equivalent) level of education or significant applicable experience.
  • Proven track record of business development, growth and sales in a mechanical and electrical service and/or hire equipment environment, preferably in the water or other utilities sector.
  • A high level of personal authority – mature and professional attitude.
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced working knowledge of MS Office and virtual meeting technologies such as video conferencing and Skype.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Workshop Fitter

Responsible for the manufacture & test of a range of chemical dosing equipment, working to a high level of detail and quality to ensure the company’s standards are maintained.

  • Fabricate and assemble chemical dosing equipment in line with engineering drawings, P&ID’s and work instructions provided using general hand and power tools. This will involve bund & cabinet fabrication, pump & instrument installation, pipe & valve fitting & basic electrical works.
  • Carry out pressure testing & quality checks of assembled components in line with test procedures, reports & work instructions.
  • Always work in a safe manner and within the company’s Health & Safety procedures & policies.

The current team of around 33 staff includes highly qualified engineers and technicians with many years’ technical experience working within the key industry sectors where WES operates.

WES actively supports young people development and has a close association with both BCOT and Alton College covering work experience and apprenticeship programmes.
