The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation of a range of chemical dosing equipment, working to a high level of detail and quality to ensure the company’s standards are maintained.

Mechanical Engineering experience is preferred.

Key elements of the job description:

  • Ensure that all mechanical installations carried out comply with required standards, policies and statutory regulations in respect to health & safety.
  • Ensure that all mechanical installations are installed, tested and commissioned to current British or Client determined Standards.
  • Ensure excellent workmanship and industry best practice is adopted to ensure a “right first time” approach to the Installation of mechanical installations; to maintain quality whilst adhering to programmed hours and material expenditure.
    To both complete and comply with all Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Safety Instructions and to use all equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner.
  • To complete all required documentation, including time sheets and daily work record sheets appropriately and on time.
  • To work collaboratively with other team members, departments, customers and suppliers to ensure that information, expertise and requirements are communicated effectively, issues resolved, and operability of systems optimised.
  • To perform all other reasonable requirements of this position as may be expected or requested generally as an employee of the Company.

As this is a field-based role, there is a requirement to travel to a from various client sites, for which a van is provided. In addition, there will be an occasional requirement to work away; overnight accommodation will be organised by the business when this is required.

Responsibilities:

  • To work collaboratively with team members, other business departments, customers and suppliers to ensure that information, expertise and requirements are shared and communicated effectively, issues resolved, and operability of systems optimised.
  • Ensure excellent workmanship and industry best practice and a “right first time” approach is adopted to all tasks undertaken.
  • Comply with all risk assessments & method statements (RAMS) pertaining to tasks undertaken. Ensure all safety related instructions and requirements are complied with and use all equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner.
  • To complete all required documentation, time sheets and sites reports on time and with necessary detail and accuracy.
  • Provide a broad range of engineering support services to the site installation team, including (but not limited to):
  • Small civils work.
  • Deliveries & collections – materials, hire kit etc.
  • Crane lift / banksman / escort.
  • 2nd man on 2 handed jobs – providing additional resource to support project delivery.
  • Yard and storage controls at Precision House.
  • Preparing materials inventories in readiness for dispatch.
  • Management of generic site equipment & tools, including storage.
  • PAT testing, lifting kit test certs etc

(Appropriate training will be provided to enable tasks to be fulfilled)

Person:

  • Whilst the designated place of work is Precision House, Rankine Road Basingstoke, RG24 8PP, the role of support engineer requires regular travel to various client and supplier sites. There will be a need to “stay away” overnight on occasion.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours and scope of work requirements when necessary.
  • Perform all other reasonable requirements of this position as may be expected or requested generally as an employee of the business.
  • Prepared to attend training in order to achieve relevant certification to attend client sites
  • Strong communication skills that build sustainable customer relationships
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Desire to finish a task
  • Flexible start and finish times so that client problems can whenever possible be resolved in one visit
  • Driving licence

Working as part of a growing service and maintenance team, the successful candidate will have a background in mechanical and electrical servicing. Ideally with working knowledge of pumps, piping, valves, and control systems in the water industry, the candidate will be able to demonstrate a good level of previous experience and expertise in the following:

Primary Duties: 
The role involves travelling to client sites, both clean water and waste water sites, to carry out servicing, reactive maintenance, repairs and replacement on pumps, plant and chemical dosing equipment.
Conduct site surveys to assist with commercial proposal generation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide a reactive response, to customer request demonstrating a flexible and pragmatic approach to solve customer problems.
  • Build personal, sustainable and robust customer relationships.
  • Adhere to company and client requirements for safe systems of work to the highest standards at all times. (Demonstrating lone working best practice on unmanned remote site).
  • Keep comprehensive records in order to document work carried out and to allow correct billing of service and parts to client.
  • Safely carry out mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Demonstrate competency to work on chemical dosing systems and equipment and working on customer sites by achieving and maintaining accredited standards e.g. Confined space; Working at height; Chemical safety and Electrical 17th edition.
  • Demonstrate logical thought and follow process documentation to quickly identify fault and correct root cause.
  • Configure, calibrate, repair and adjust a range of WES and 3rd party equipment on customer’s sites to achieve optimum performance. This includes; pumps, valves, pipework, controllers, sample monitors and systems. Report findings directly with the client and report back to WES in a timely and realistic manner.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Flexible working may be required as some jobs require overnight stays or working outside of normal hours to ensure customer deadlines are achieved.
  • Train others, including client operators and staff to use WES and other 3rd party equipment such as plc, chemical monitors and bespoke equipment.
  • Collaborate with the wider WES team to share product and customer information.

Personal Attributes:

  • Equally happy working on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Electrical qualification, either 17th Edition or JIB card or CSCS card
  • Prepared to attend training in order to achieve relevant certification to attend client sites
  • Strong communication skills that build sustainable customer relationships

Working safely and to a high standard, the Site Electrician is responsible for electrical installation and testing of a wide range of chemical dosing equipment. WES team members work flexibly and some mechanical fitting skills would be advantageous. The work will be on both clean and waste water sites.

  • Ensure that all electrical, instrumentation and control installations are installed, tested and commissioned to current British or Customer Standards.
  • To complete and comply with all Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Safety Instructions and to use all equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner.
  • To work collaboratively with team members, departments, customers and suppliers to ensure that information, expertise and requirements are communicated effectively, issues resolved and operability of systems optimised.
  • Maintain knowledge of advances in technology and materials and identify improvement opportunities

Essential qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2360 Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations
  • City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent qualification in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations)
  • City & Guilds 2382-15 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Minimum 3 years electrical installation experience

Mechanical Engineering experience is preferred.

Job Description:

  • Fabrication and assembly of chemical dosing equipment in line with engineering drawings, P&ID’s and work instructions provided using general hand and power tools. This will involve bund & cabinet fabrication, pump & instrument installation, pipe & valve fitting & basic electrical works.
  • Carry out pressure testing & quality checks of assembled components in line with test procedures, reports & work instructions.
  • Work as part of a team and maintain a positive working attitude.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company’s quality, health & safety & environmental management systems.
  • Work to and have input to task specific work instructions, method statements & risk assessments.
  • Bring to the attention of your line manager any issues or concerns relating to instructions, health & safety matters or potential programme delays.
