WES Ltd is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bespoke and standard Chemical Dosing systems and associated support services. We design, build, install, maintain, and hire our dosing systems.

We are part of the Ross-Shire Engineering Group, and our client base is spread across various industry sectors, including Water, Nuclear Power, Defence, Marine, Industrial and Manufacturing.

What you’ll be doing 

This is a new role for WES enabling you to influence, develop and stamp your personality on this role. Hopefully the following gives you a feel of what to expect…

As our Quality Manager you will be accountable for all matters relating to Quality and Business Assurance, and to manage all external accreditations and compliances, staff training and the business approach to environmental matters.

This will include developing business systems to ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 while maintaining Quality accreditations with required external bodies such as Achilles Verify and CHAS.

As part of the Senior Management team, you will provide all the necessary data, information, and guidance to enable informed decisions to develop Quality & Business Assurance plans, strategies and changes whilst working towards agreed goals and objectives.

Define, implement, and manage Key Performance Indicators across all business functions to create a continuous improvement culture based upon the reporting, customer insight and best practice.

Maintain an awareness of changes in relevant industry legislation to ensure we are complying and operating to the highest standards while communicating to the business and our customers as appropriate.

Lead on the development of environmental systems policies and procedures within the business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all electrical installations comply with Company and Industry Standards, Policies and Statutory Regulations in respect to Health & Safety.
  • Ensures that all electrical installations are installed, tested and commissioned to current British and Customer Standards.
  • Ensure good workmanship and Industry best practice is adopted and ensure a “right first-time finishing culture” is applied to maintain quality, optimisation of programmed hours and that only necessary materials are used.
    Provide technical electrical support to the Project and Workshop teams as necessary.
  • Complete and comply with all Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), safety instructions and use all equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Complete all required documentation, time sheets and sites reports and return to the administrative and management team within prescribed timescales. Use all electronic recording devices or mechanisms as introduced by the business and as instructed to do so.
  • Read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, LV/ELV schematics, Single-Line diagrams (SLD) and amend as necessary.
  • Liaise with clients, customers, sub-contractors and other stakeholders to ensure full communication of requirements, and compliance with process & procedure.
  • Adopt & promote a collaborative team-based approach with colleagues across other departments and with customers, to minimise delays, share skills & expertise, problem solve and communicate to ensure best outcomes.
  • Maintain personal awareness of relevant industry standards, developments and legislation. Also ensure personal qualifications and accreditations remain relevant for the role, liaising with appropriate business colleagues to ensure these are maintained in a timely manner.

General

  • Demonstrate actions & behaviours to support WES “values” at all times.
  • As this is a mobile role, there will be a need to travel to various client and WES sites on a daily basis. This may require overnight stays and extended flexibility in respect of personal time management and commitment. Essential Qualifications

  • It is essential that the successful candidate has extensive experience of industrial / commercial electrical installations – and desirable that he or she has further experience of instrumentation, control, automation (ICA) installation, testing and commissioning in line with industry and electrical standards.
  • Candidates must be qualified to a minimum of 18th Edition, C&G 2391 Inspection & Test and hold a current JIB Gold Card.
  • Further desirable experience in specific Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV), particularly knowledge of analogue control signals including the conditioning, conversion and interpretation thereof would be beneficial. This also includes an understanding of digital inputs and outputs (I/O), relay control logic and instrumentation.
  • The candidate should be comfortable and able to work unsupervised on complex control engineering problems which may include interfacing different control voltages and instruments efficiently and safely.

Overview

To create and drive order intake growth for the Capital Projects and Hire divisions, in line with the current plan

To assist and support sales activity for other WES divisions, particularly where relationships exist with key clients/personnel.

To develop and maintain strong relationships with the purchasing and operations teams within existing, or identified potential, key accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Business Development and Marketing
    • Actively develop relationships with allocated existing key accounts, to grow the WES business. Track and record organisational changes and business direction within those key accounts.
    • Plan and implement visits to promote and position WES’ products and services within all UK water utilities. The aim is to receive the opportunity to bid for the majority of future relevant Framework enquiries.
    • Identify new customers, industries and sectors requiring chemical dosing solutions. Seek out and manage new accounts and relationships that can deliver orders.
    • Identify opportunities and generate ideas for continual product improvement, including possible new products and variants.
    • Monitor competitor activity; be alert to business opportunities and threat and report accordingly.
    • Provide input and ideas for WES news releases (website, social media/LinkedIn, mailshots) to help drive new enquiries and strengthen the WES profile.
  • Enquiry handling
    • Assess and respond to customer enquiries. Decide technical and commercial bid strategy and prepare proposals, or guide and manage others to prepare same. Ensure that Engineering, Manufacturing, Service and other departments are informed and involved to the appropriate extent.
    • Ensure technical and commercial compliance with WES policies in all bids.
    • Visit the client and/or site as necessary to fully understand the requirements and ensure we present an accurate proposal meeting the client expectations.
    • Ensure proposals are properly documented, approved and recorded on Sharepoint.
    • Lead the approach and response to water company Framework enquiries.
  • Order Winning
    • Prepare and present customer presentations in order to promote WES’ capability and generate new business.
    • Routinely track all projects post-tender, keep Sharepoint updated, and provide a monthly rolling orders forecast.
    • Respond to bid clarification questions and/or customer meetings. Follow through to negotiation and order, in line with agreed sales margin targets. Lead the approach on Framework negotiations to secure same on acceptable terms.
    • Arrange clear, timely and complete contract handovers to the Projects delivery team. Act as the ‘customer voice’ during the contract delivery period including participation in design reviews and inspections.
  • General
    • Ensure all activity is compliant with relevant Company management systems and procedures, including Health and Safety legislation.
    • Perform other requirements of this position as may reasonably be expected or requested generally as an employee of the Company.

Working as part of a growing Workshop team, the successful candidate will have a background in manufacturing and mechanical assembly. Ideally with a working knowledge of pumps, pipework, valves, and control systems in the water industry.

What you’ll be doing 

As part of our Workshop team, you will be manufacturing our Chemical Dosing equipment to a high level of quality and testing what you have built, making the role interesting and varied.

To do this, you will be building the equipment cabinets, bunds, installing various sizes of pipework, pumps, instruments and all the necessary values. You will also be doing some basic electrical work like installing the cable racks and running the cable. All the fabrication and assembly will be from Engineering drawings, P&ID’s and work instructions produced by our Project Engineers.

Once you have built the equipment, the next stage will be to carry out pressure testing and quality checks of the assembled components.

Working as part of a growing service and maintenance team, the successful candidate will have a background in mechanical and electrical servicing. Ideally with working knowledge of pumps, piping, valves, and control systems in the water industry, the candidate will be able to demonstrate a good level of previous experience and expertise in the following:

Primary Duties: 
The role involves travelling to client sites, both clean water and waste water sites, to carry out servicing, reactive maintenance, repairs and replacement on pumps, plant and chemical dosing equipment.
Conduct site surveys to assist with commercial proposal generation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide a reactive response, to customer request demonstrating a flexible and pragmatic approach to solve customer problems.
  • Build personal, sustainable and robust customer relationships.
  • Adhere to company and client requirements for safe systems of work to the highest standards at all times. (Demonstrating lone working best practice on unmanned remote site).
  • Keep comprehensive records in order to document work carried out and to allow correct billing of service and parts to client.
  • Safely carry out mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Demonstrate competency to work on chemical dosing systems and equipment and working on customer sites by achieving and maintaining accredited standards e.g. Confined space; Working at height; Chemical safety and Electrical 17th edition.
  • Demonstrate logical thought and follow process documentation to quickly identify fault and correct root cause.
  • Configure, calibrate, repair and adjust a range of WES and 3rd party equipment on customer’s sites to achieve optimum performance. This includes; pumps, valves, pipework, controllers, sample monitors and systems. Report findings directly with the client and report back to WES in a timely and realistic manner.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Flexible working may be required as some jobs require overnight stays or working outside of normal hours to ensure customer deadlines are achieved.
  • Train others, including client operators and staff to use WES and other 3rd party equipment such as plc, chemical monitors and bespoke equipment.
  • Collaborate with the wider WES team to share product and customer information.

Mechanical Engineering experience is preferred.

Key elements of the job description:

As this is a field-based role (clean water and waste water sites), there is a requirement to travel to a from various client sites, for which a van is provided. In addition, there will be an occasional requirement to work away; overnight accommodation will be organised by the business when this is required.

The Project Manager (Operations) is responsible for:

  • Managing CAPEX based projects from client order receipt to client handover, meeting contractual obligations of time, budget quality and margin.
  • Managing Capex based capital projects from engineering handover to completion of site installation, meeting contractual obligations of time, budget, quality, and margin for that phase of the project.
  • The application of sound & robust project engineering principles to all aspects of work undertaken.

Duties & Responsibilities

In general, this role takes ownership and is accountable for delivering projects (whether in the form of a formal sub-contract order or a purchase order). This may include but is not limited to:

  • Interpretation of the WES proposal, client specification & expectations of all parties.
  • Project planning to achieve the optimum WES, and agreed client installation & delivery dates.
  • Ensuring that when part of a project, design, equipment schedules, P&ID’s, layouts, calculations, etc are all appropriate and suitable to achieve project performance requirements.
  • Project cost & budget management to achieve or improve upon agreed project margins.
  • Materials & equipment procurement to ensure effectiveness and cost / quality balance.
  • Change & variation management & control to maximise opportunity & mitigate risk to project margins, including appropriate contract administration and communication of changes and variations.
  • Ensure that all projects are installed to operational safety requirements, and to comply with the company’s and statutory HSEQ policies and regulations.
  • Preparation of documents & information to allow workshop manufacture / assembly of projects to be efficient & effective.
  • Managing customer & WES stakeholder expectations by facilitation of regular project review meetings, progress reports, etc.
  • Planning & preparation of documents & information to allow site installation activities to be undertaken efficiently & effectively.
  • Coordination of system commissioning, certification, & documentation.
  • Contract compliance in respect of timely payment applications, notices, submissions, etc.
  • Delegate where appropriate project requirements using the experience and skills of the wider WES project & engineering teams to deliver project requirements most effectively. Close liaison with managers & directors to understand and agree individual & team priorities. Co-ordinate between workshop & site teams.
  • Collaborate with cross department stakeholders to ensure responsibilities are clearly understood & project performance criteria is clearly communicated.
  • Collaborate with the wider Capex team in developing new products and standardising typical engineering solutions to recurring elements of projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and to actively work to improve WES procedures & processes for the management of projects

General

  • Maintain personal awareness of relevant industry standards, developments, and legislation. Also ensure personal qualifications and accreditations remain relevant for the role, liaising with appropriate business colleagues to ensure these are maintained in a timely manner.
