How to remove Phosphorus more cost effectively

Phosphorus, in the form of various mineral phosphates, is a key cause of eutrophication in lakes, rivers and other surface waters. Eutrophication’s effects present both financial and practical challenges for water companies. 

Chemical dosing systems, which use a combination of ferric chloride, ferric sulphates and a range of metallic salts, are able to remove and capture phosphate during treatment before the water is released back into the environment.

Currently, with such a strong focus on phosphorus removal from wastewater throughout the UK there are understandably growing concerns about the capacity of the chemical dosing manufacturing base to meet anticipated demand for equipment during AMP7.  

Historically the water industry has invested in large, technically complex chemical dosing systems that have long lead-times for the chemical treatment of wastewater but concerns about capacity and demand have prompted a need for simpler, standardised equipment without compromising performance or integrity.

The major benefits of standardising, small and medium sized, chemical dosing systems is that they can be built to a repeatable design and immediately manufactured in efficient batches, vastly reducing factory residence time and freeing up capacity to cope with demand.

This is an ideal solution to meet demand for chemical dosing sytems on the many  smaller wastewater treatment works that currently do not have adequate phosphorus removal systems on site.

After completing a traditional engineering apprenticeship at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Bob was one of the original partners who started the business in 1986. In addition to board activities, Bob now applies his considerable experience to developing proposals & solutions to meet customer requirements.

A highly experienced Business Mentor, Coach, Managing Director & Non-Exec Chairman, having led product, manufacturing, contracting and service provider businesses for nearly 30 years. A strong track record of market, sales and profit growth within a diverse range of sectors.
