The range of WES experience in the marine industry is related to and supported by the innovative approach applied to the Royal Navy coupled with the application of chemical dosing experience across other sectors.

Bio-fouling control using Sodium Hypochlorite and de-chlorination to reduce chlorine residual levels to acceptable environmental levels are particular specialities of the WES team.

Working closely with the Royal Navy and Babcock, WES have become technical authority for Micro-biologically influenced corrosion (MIC) control of seawater cooling systems for the Devonport based Nuclear Submarine fleet. Using the WES “In Harbour Chlorination Rigs” (IHCR’s) utilising electro-chlorination technology for on-site generation of Sodium Hypochlorite, WES provides a full support service including emergency call-out and exchange servicing provision.

With the WES Cuguard™ system the Royal Navy surface fleet doses Ferrous Sulphate into Copper Nickel seawater cooling systems for “Burning in” and surface conditioning.

These innovative solutions have since been applied readily to similar applications within commercial shipping, power station seawater cooling systems, offshore platform applications and other similar requirements.
